How to add the mobile client emulator to the Tools menu in AX 2012

I am indebted to Murray Fife for the idea and Geoff McMaster for the details on this one, and you need to use the AOT, but it’s a real time-saver.

Open the AOT (Ctrl-D or Windows > New development workspace) and navigate to Menu Items > Display and right-click on the Display heading and Select New Menu Item.

You’ll get a new menu item. You might need to open the Properties window, but you should see:

Then set the Name (WHSWorkExecute), Label (WMS Mobile client), Help text (WMS Mobile forms) and Object (WHSWorkExecute):

Next Navigate to Menus > GlobalToolsMenu:

Right-click on the GloabToolsMenu and select New > Menu item:

Then enter/select the Display menu option you created earlier:

Save all:

And close the compiler window and close the AOT.

You should now have a new Tools Menu option:

When you select it you’ll get:

And away you go ….
